Rubipiara Cavalcante Fernandes (Piara Fernandes) is a Full Professor at the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC). He holds bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). He serves as the leader of the Research Group on Electric Energy Systems (GESE), which includes researchers from IFSC and collaborations with companies in the Brazilian Electrical Sector and international educational institutions.
He previously served as Director-General of the EMBRAPII Innovation Hub at IFSC - Florianópolis Campus and worked as a technical consultant for the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). He has experience in the field of Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on electricity market regulation and operations, primarily focusing on the following topics: Energy Regulation and Market, Energy Efficiency, Electric Power Generation (mini and microgeneration), Electromobility, Green Hydrogen, Electric Power Distribution, Electricity Pricing Systems, and Demand Response.
