Large-Scale Solar PV: Investments, Performance, and Operation Under Curtailment Conditions

Nelson Falcão has extensive experience in the production chain of equipment for power generation, transmission, and distribution systems. Throughout his career, he has held important positions at ABB, Cegelec Alstom, and Cooper Power Systems in Brazil and Canada. Most recently, he was Senior Director of Business Development LATAM at Nextpower Brazil (formerly known as Nextracker), having worked in the company's commercial area since the beginning of its operations in Brazil in 2015, and from 2013 to 2023, he led the energy business development area for the Flex group.Nelson also held the Vice-Presidency of the Production Chain on the board of directors of ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association) from 2018 to 2026. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of USP in 1980 and specialized in Reactive Power Compensation in Sweden in 1983.

Marcio Trannin is an energy executive with 28 years of experience driving regulation, commercialization, new business development and operation in several technologies, across the Brazilian and Latin American power sectors working for multinational corporations. Currently he serves as the Vice President of Voltalia in Brazil. He has served two terms as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Administration at ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Solar Photovoltaic Energy). He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering alongside an advanced postgraduate specialization in Finance.

Nathália is an Energy Engineer from UFRGS who joined DNV in 2019. She completed an academic exchange at École des Mines d'Albi, France, specializing in renewable energy, energy conversion, and energy efficiency. At DNV, she focuses on climatic data analysis, solar energy production forecasting, technology reviews, and operational energy assessments. She is currently the Practice Lead for Energy Assessments in the SEMELA region (Southern Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America).

A civil and executive engineer with over 19 years of experience in the electric power sector, Anderson Penha is one of the pioneers in the development of Brazil's renewable energy industry. Throughout his career, he has provided leadership and executive management for over 5 GW of power generation projects, working in the areas of development, engineering, construction, and commissioning of large-scale projects. He is currently the Director of Engineering and Construction at Newave Energia, where he leads strategic projects focused on safety, efficiency, innovation, and excellence in execution.

Angel Cancino is a Senior Research Analyst at S&P Global and a member of the Clean Energy Technology team. He has experience in energy resource assessment and in the analysis of solar photovoltaic and energy storage projects. His work includes creating forecasts and market development analyses for emerging and established renewable energy markets. His current research focuses on the solar PV and BESS markets in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, including project identification, regulatory frameworks, and the key drivers behind renewable energy growth in the region. He holds a bachelor's degree in Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Science and Arts of Chiapas and a master's degree in Sustainable Energy Systems from the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.

Rodrigo Borges has over 15 years of experience in the energy sector, with a focus on corporate strategy, business development, renewable energy, and energy trading. Before joining Aurora, he held roles at Oliver Wyman, Dow Chemical, and Votorantim. Throughout his career, he has worked on topics such as renewable energy procurement, price modeling, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), energy trading, scenario development, government auctions, and regulatory strategy.
